Ok, this is a pretty crappy ad. But I find it more persuasive (and genuine) than “The Great American Lager.”

You think it’s crappy? I actually think it’s pretty good, although obviously dated. It’s very tricky to try and translate these old ads to something more current, but probably at least worth trying.
Ok, I’ll grant you that it’s not so bad! It at least has charm in its retro-ness. “The Great American Lager” campaign reeks of contrivance and calculation … at least with this old ad you can almost imagine two people who really love Budweiser writing the ad from the heart.
